This week has been filled with so much fun and its only half over! On Tuesday Bishop Estevez came for a visit. We all had a blast talking to him and eating lunch with him. It is such a blessing to have a bishop who is so involved!
Tuesday night was our big camp carnival. There were hotdogs, cotton candy, and funnel cakes to accompany all of the carnival games that were set up in the dining hall. Ski ball, basketball, and the high striker were fan favorites that always had a crowd around them. Once the skies cleared up we were able to go outside and dunk some camp leaders in the dunk tank, which always yields a good laugh!
Wednesday started off with a Theaterworks show entitled "The Three Little Pigs Under the Big Top," which is always captivating. There was even a meet and greet with the actors after the show!
Later in the night we had the Bubble dance party! There were bubble machines spewing out bubbles by the second as music played on the back patio that attracted a lot of dancers and bubble-poppers. Not too far from all of the bubble action was a bonfire ready to make the perfect s'mores!
There is still so much more fun to be had at the dance and talent show coming up!
Summer is flying by and session 3 is already beginning! The campers arrived this afternoon to smiling buddies cheering for them as they drove up.
Camper-Buddy pairs were scattered about coloring in the dining hall and playing on the playground as they got to know each other and prepare for a week filled with fun activities.
After dinner we watched a movie projected on a big screen in the chapel while enjoying some freshly popped popcorn.
What a fun packed day we had yesterday! In the morning the wonderful folks from theater works were here to put on a show called "Three Little Pigs Under The Big Top". The show was filled with many cool tricks such as juggling, and plate spinning. After the Show the campers had a chance to go and talk to the performers and take pictures with them and check out some of the props that were used!
After the performance we headed out to the dock in hunt of some fish. After just a few short minutes of putting the bait in the water we were getting so many bites! All of the campers had a great time catching fish and watching their buddies give them a kiss for good luck. We also made sure to name the fish before releasing them.
Finally we would like to give a special thank you for the donation of the funds to rent four gas powered golf carts for the summer. We are also the proud new owners of one electric golf cart! These golf carts are such a vital key to running camp. They enable us to get anywhere on the grounds quickly, and they are useful in transporting items for various activities.
Monday night was filled with loads of fun! The campers arrived and the fun immediately started. All the buddies lined up to give all the campers a warm welcome. After getting our beds ready and introducing ourselves, it was time to play. We went on the swings, played ball, and drew on the sidewalk with chalk. But the fun didn't end there! We got to have our first camp sing-a-long for the week!
This week we have been blessed with yet another wonderful kitchen crew. They cook something delicious for every meal with a variety of items that way there is something everyone enjoys. The kitchen crew is very flexible in making sure that everyone here gets something they want to eat.
Today could not have been a more perfect day to have our first pool time. After putting on some sunscreen, it was finally time to go for a swim. All of the campers and buddies had a BLAST! We played catch, floated around on rafts, and even swam some laps around the pool. There were smiles and laughter all around.
I know it's been a few days since our last post, but our days have been filled with tons of fun activities. Wednesday morning, we had a wonderful performance of The Three Little Pigs Under the Big Top, by Theater Works. Everyone loved the show and the meet and greet with the performers afterwards. After Theater Works we had pool time and got to go fishing! Many of the campers caught a fish and some even had their buddies kiss the fish. It was quite an experience! Wednesday ended with a bubble dance party and s'mores. The dance party was a blast and the s'mores were delicious!
We also had a bounce house graciously donated to us! Caryn and our staff took the time to clean it Wednesday night so we could use it this week and the rest of summer. It's huge and lots of fun!
Thursday we had a petting zoo come. There were all sorts of animals for us to pet, such as rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep, and much more. We also got to ride horses and go on a hay ride! After the petting zoo we had a water slide and water games on the play ground. The slide was awesome and those that did not want to do it could play with the water spraying toys or dump buckets of water on people. Thursday night was our carnival themed dance. Everyone had some really great costumes and some greater dance moves.
Friday we had more pool fun in the morning and water slides again. The afternoon was filled with activities, such as music, PE, arts and crafts, and movies! The day ended with our annual talent show in which all of our campers showed off their amazing talents. This afternoon we will have our awards show before everyone heads home and we prepare for session 2! This was such an awesome week! Thank you all for checking in, there's more to come!!
